My name is Allison and I'm a 17 year old high school student looking to keep you safe by updating you with current events within the United States and tips on how to safely support the protests and riots going on. I am only here to keep you safe and keep you up to date on what is going on. I want to let you know that I am here for you. For the longest time, I was passively supportive until the news of George Floyd's death. Now I am dedicated to helping those in protests and providing care for those who may need it. I am no leader. I am just a high school student who's trying to watch out for her community, that is all. Enough is enough.
What will I provide?
I provide as many safety tips and news about any violence I can. I will provide links for donations and petitions. I cannot promise that I can get everything but I want to be as accurate as possible. I understand if you are scared. You do not have to be on the frontlines to help. This is a revolution. I am creating care packages for my community and attempting to educate myself. We are in this together.
Why am I doing this?
I am the recipient of privilege. I wish to fight injustice in our current world. It is something I have always wanted to do. We have the power to create change and the time is now. I find it very important to keep people safe and avoid any possible conflict. I cannot promise that it will work but I want to keep you safe. I want to educate myself on how I can make a difference in the community I am in and around the nation. Have conversations and tell their stories. We all have a duty to stand strong for the suffering, even if we cannot understand the pain they are experiencing.
This is not just one case. This is oppression over hundreds of years. We are human beings. We have rights.
"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." Desmond Tutu.
